Text Plus App Not Sending Messages

Hi, I'm a newbie trying to set up the Textplus app on my 3G iPad. I've registered on Textplus but no one is able to receive my "test" texts although they show as sent. I was hoping to use this app to facilitate receiving/responding to text messages sent to my Verizon cell number via my iPad.
